Tell us a bit about YOU…
I’m a southern CA lifestyle photographer who loves vibrant colors and natural moments. During the day, I work as the director of public affairs for a large developer and have spent my career in politics and government affairs. In the evenings and on weekends, I’m building a photography business, attend Mariners Church, spend time with family and friends, and love nothing more than an afternoon of wine tasting.
Three words that describe your blog
Three words that describe my personal blog: DIY, cooking, irony.
Three words that describe my photoblog: crisp, colorful, emotional.
2 DIY tools you couldn’t live without.
I can’t live without the following tools: electric screwdriver and electric sander.
What do you try to capture during your photo shoots?
In photo shoots, I like to capture organic and natural moments. Laughter, eye contact, and sweet smooches make every photo beautiful!
Favorite photo shoot?
I don’t really have a favorite photo shoot because they’ve all been special. There’s something about the trust your clients place in you that makes you want to make it the best shoot ever. Having said that, this year, my friend Clare has allowed me to practice on her a number of times and although at times I likely didn’t have much confidence in myself, she loved the photos and made me feel great about the end result!

    My favorite would be Maximilan because babies are precious and she really captured that! What amazing photos to have of him for the rest of his life. I hope to capture my kids in their innocence too.

    I'd have to say my favorite shoot was 'Your Promis. Liz & Brock'. She took fantastic pictures of the wedding party, especially the last photo.

    Also, your shoot came out great. I love last one, with you laughing. You look really happy.

    Wow, it's hard to pick a favorite photo shoot. The pictures of your family are my favorite but there are others I like too. I like Ella because she is adorable and I want to eat her up. Caden's photo shoot reminds me of Joshua's goofy personality. And I like the photo's of Max because secretly I want another baby right now even though we're waiting until the boys are a bit older.
    She does great work! I hope we win!

    I can't resist – I love photography! And the baby pics from 9/16 are so precious. The sleeping newborn in b/w and the baby in the basket. Love it. Ahhh… my baby girl will be here soon and I hope to make a big deal out her, just like with my other two. 🙂

    And OF COURSE the Lawson shoot is wonderful. I love the semi-aggressive Eli hugging his baby CJ.

    i have followed my cuz since well…a long time…before she became the blah blah blahger…and cuz she is awesome i will also twitter about this…and my mom is also friends with your mom and of course her mom…and my favorite photo shoot of hers is when she took photos of the newborn Phoenix…my cousin's child…not sure what that is exactly, but i call myself his auntie…that is how we "johnsons" (even though i am no longer a johnson by namesake) roll!

    i love your blog kara! and i miss your mom now that i no longer church with her! tell her i say hi and that we miss her! and that i would love to be involved in your christmas boutique if you are going to do it again this year!
